Bay Harbor Islands has a reputationas an island of security “crime is virtually non-existent”. Before 1945 Bay Harbor Islands were once undeveloped mangrove swamp islands, located between the beach barrier islands, then at that time the swamp was filled in to form Bay Harbor Islands . Today the ocean beaches are a quick walk or bike ride away. Activities include golf, walking, rollerblading, fishing, tennis and boating. Bay Harbor Islands is a community of condominiums, fine homes and apartment houses, schools, retail shops, several small art galleries, restaurants and cafes.
